Checking data service…

The operations portal,
as a Mac app.

RideNear Portal runs on your Mac and signs in to RideNear's hosted data service. Download it, allow it to open once, and sign in with your admin account.

Download for Mac Latest version

Using Windows? Download the Windows installer.

1

Install

Open the downloaded .dmg, drag RideNear Portal into Applications, then eject the disk image.

2

Allow it to open

The app is distributed privately rather than through the App Store, so macOS stops it the first time. Open it once from Applications, then:

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll to Security.
  2. Next to "RideNear Portal was blocked", click Open Anyway and confirm.

If macOS instead says the app "is damaged and can't be opened", clear the download flag in Terminal and open it again:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/RideNear Portal.app"

This is needed only on the first launch. Updates install from inside the app.

3

Add the AI modeloptional

RideNear Intelligence, the assistant behind the ✦ button, runs entirely on your Mac and needs its model file, ridenear-intelligence-4b-q4_k_m.gguf (about 2.7 GB). Your administrator hands it out. Put it in this folder, where it survives app updates:

~/Library/Application Support/com.ridenear.portal/ai/models/

In Finder: Go → Go to Folder…, paste the path and create any folder that is missing. Or, with the file in Downloads, run:

mkdir -p "$HOME/Library/Application Support/com.ridenear.portal/ai/models" && cp ~/Downloads/ridenear-intelligence-4b-q4_k_m.gguf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/com.ridenear.portal/ai/models/"

Restart RideNear Portal. The app checks the file and switches the assistant on. Without it, every other screen works as normal.

Any .gguf name is accepted, but the contents must be the exact file: a truncated or different model is ignored, not loaded.
4

Use your admin email and password, the same ones as the RideNear dashboard. Access and roles are managed by an administrator in Settings → Admin access. No other setup is needed: there is no configuration file to install.

Why an app rather than this website?

The AI assistant runs on your own Mac, so your data never leaves the company's systems to be analysed. The website only hands the app out.

Requirements

A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) on macOS 13 or newer, and about 4 GB free if you add the AI model.

Something's not working?

Ask your administrator. If a screen says it cannot reach the data service, check your connection; the app needs internet access to sign in.
